The BLU-JET Super 1200 coulter provides the optimum in functionality, design, versatility, and durability. Spring loaded for protection against field obstructions, the Super 1200 coulter is used for numerous applications including fertilizer injection, residue management, and soil restoration operations on BLU-JET and other farm equipment brands.

Superior Design

The design of the Super 1200 Coulter allows it be highly versatile and low maintenance. Numerous mounting brackets are available to match the size tube of your existing implement. Vertically adjustable shanks available in varying lengths maximize versatility while still allowing the coulter blade to be adjusted to the proper depth. A ductile hinge knee casting and nylon pivot bearings reduce maintenance points and increase durability. Greaseable tapered roller bearings in the hub and a 1-3/8" greasable pivot pin at the spring pivot ensure an increased wear life.

3 Factory Blades...Many Possibilities

The factors determining the type of blade one will need include the operation to be performed, soil type, and residue conditions. BLU-JET offers three blades as standard options from the factory, though many more can be found to fit the hub and bolt pattern.

Liquid Fertilizer Injection

BLU-JET offers the Super 1200 for use in many types of fertilizer injection operations. High pressure liquid injection nozzles or low disturbance coulter knives can be mounted directly to it for side dress or pre-plant injection of nutrients in liquid solution (28% and 32% being most common). The high pressure (JetStream) nozzles force a concentrated stream of liquid into the coulter slot; putting fertilizer up to 4 inches into the root zone. The coulter knife option also places fertilizer 4 inches into the root zone, and can be a good alternative to JetStream injection for those who prefer to inject fertilizer with a knife.

NH3 and Dry Fertilizer Injection

Super 1200 Coulters are also used ahead of a knife and shank in BLU-JET NH3 or Dry Fertilizer Injection for Pre-Plant, Side Dress, and StripTill operations. In this capacity, the coulter cuts any residue that may be in the path of the shank and knife while creating a track in the ground for the shank and knife to more easily follow. In StripTill, a Residue Manager can be mounted directly to the coulter. It sweeps away residue to leave a clean strip after the shank for planting.

Vertical Tillage & Deep Tillage

Super 1200 Coulters are also used in BLU-JET vertical tillage operations. As row units mounted on the BLU-JET 3-point CoulterPro frame, as part of a Vertical Tillage System with a No-Till drill or planter, or mounted on SubTiller 4, the coulters perform well in vertical tillage operations.

StripTill

The BLU-JET coulter is an integral part of our award winning StripTill unit. It slices through tough residue before the Residue Manager sweeps it out of the strip. Unlike some competitive strip-till row units, the BLU-JET StripTill Row Unit doesn't use a depth band on the coulter for individual row depth control. Instead, depth control is achieved through gauge wheels on the toolbar, keeping the row components separate from one another. This increases the space between row components and allows for better residue flow. Because they are not tied together in a linkage, each BLU-JET StripTill Component is allowed to handle the soil, residue, and field obstruction independently from the next. This makes a more consistent strip in the field and provides for better depth control, particularly in rocky conditions.
